Scholz Garden was opened at this site in 1866 by German Immigrant August Scholz. It is one of my favorite places in Austin, partly because it has not changed for over 125 years!  Every year, we enjoy a great bar-b-que meal and lots of dancing and music.      Scholz Garden is honored as "A gathering Place for Texans of Discernment, Taste, Culture and Erudition, Epitomizing the Finest Traditions of Magnificent German Heritage in our State"      Scholz Garden is not only the oldest beer garden, but also the oldest continually operated business in Texas!!!
